Drawing on 100 years of expertise in the field of natural products, they produce this delicious ingredient at their factory in Spain using Tonka beans sourced responsibly from Brazil.

PRODUCT JOURNEY

Dipterix odorata is a tree that produces large almond-shaped fruits, each containing a single bean that wrinkles as it dries: the Tonka bean. Ripe fruits that have fallen to the ground are hand-picked between August and September.

The pods are then split open to extract the beans, which are left to dry and mature, allowing the sweet and oriental notes of Tonka to develop.
The dried beans are processed into a concrete and finally into an absolute at the Albert Vieille factory in Spain.

RESPONSIBLE SOURCING

They work with a local partner who coordinates more than 500 bean collectors, whose activity provides a source of income for more than 15,000 people across 30 villages in the Calha Norte region.
Collaborating with local stakeholders helps maintain a traditional economic activity, preserve natural ecosystems by combating deforestation, and ensure traceability back to the collection area.

OLFACTORY PLEASURES

A rich and indulgent fragrance with powdery, almond and vanilla notes, nuanced by dry, woody and smoky facets. The main molecule in Tonka bean absolute is coumarin, which imparts almond, vanilla, hay and tobacco notes.

Tonka bean absolute is an essential ingredient in the fougère olfactory family. It also pairs beautifully with floral, oriental and gourmand accords.
